Deanna + Ryan : : Preview Gallery April 17, 2009 9 Comments

Saturday, April 11

Deanna and Ryan’s wedding at the Frederick Meijer Gardens was nothing short of totally fabulous! With an evening ceremony, a fabulous cocktail hour and a line-up of some incredible vendors, the day couldn’t have gone more smoothly. I also had along the ever-fabulous Darrin Wassom second shooting the event with me.

Aletha of Pearls Events was on hand to keep things on track and make everything look lovely, Shelly of Shelly’s Designs produced the amazing yellow flowers, DJames was keeping the party rocking.  The Shutter Booth company was also at the reception providing some extra fun and memories for the guests.

The day was perfect…an amazing spring day with an amazing couple, wedding party and family.

OSP Indy : : Recap! April 4, 2009 4 Comments

This past week I joined my fellow photogs and friends for a few days of learning and inspiration at this year’s OSP Indy photography workshop.  After attending last year’s event and meeting some seriously amazing photographers, I was even more excited to go back this year to reconnect with old friends and to make new ones!

We heard from amazing photographers: Mark Adams with LaCour and Shoot Q, Kevin Swan with Kiss Albums, Amber Holritz and the fabulous Bobbi of Bobbi+Mike!

I came away from these three days inspired, excited and ready to make this year even more fabulous than before.  I have new ideas brewing and can’t wait to bring them to life!  Stay tuned!

This gorgeous retro model is none other than the amazing Brandi Brown. She spoke at last year’s event and literally changed how I approached children’s photography.  Beautiful and incredibly talented!

Mark Adams and his beard.  This man is incredibly talented.  We took off on a little creative shoot with a group of photographers one afternoon and he challenged the way we look at light.  Enlighting!

Our model was follow photographer Sarah Parent.  She is SO beautiful and was totally working it.

The last day of OSP, we split into four groups.  The fabulously fun Bobbi was in mine and she was showing us just why she’s so amazing.dsc_8306ac

Our theme for the challenge…Unusual.  I think this fits!

So another year done and over.  Can’t wait for next year!  Thanks again to all those who put this event together.

Our Photography Workshop : : Recap! March 15, 2009 10 Comments

Ok so our workshop yesterday…SO totally amazing! I have been excited for weeks about Jen and I teaching our first full-day photography workshop, but the group of photographers we had attending yesterday totally made the class even better than I could have imagined! Throw in two sassy models, some perfect pre-spring weather and we had ourselves a pretty fabulous day!

We covered the gamut from talking about running a successful photography business, to teaching how to shoot in different lighting conditions using flash, reflectors and off-camera flash, both indoors and outdoors. It was a lot to take in, but these photogs had some amazing images to show off afterwards. We finished our day talking about editing and doing some image critiques.

Did you miss out on this workshop but want to be involved in the next? We are starting a mailing list for the workshops we’ll be hosting in the future so if you want your name to be added, email either myself at amy@acarrollphotography.com or Jen at jen@jkphotographyonline.com.

Our senior model, Shawn, who was rocking some amazing poses for our students.

Jenn totally focused on her subject

After lunch, we had Amy in her wedding dress and posing by our very cool freight elevator down the hall from our studio doors working with some off-camera lighting.

Thanks to all those who attended! Both Jen and I hope it was a great experience!
