Now that spring is here, flowers and leaves have returned and it stays light out just a little bit later…it means my calendar is filled with engagement sessions. After a laid-back winter I couldn’t be more excited to be outside shooting and meeting my sweet couples getting married this season!

Amber and Andy are getting married this June in Bay Harbor, MI (I love love love Northern Michigan weddings!)  I met them this past week for their engagement session and honestly, these two have the biggest hearts! Amber is an elementary teacher and Andy is an ER physician and although they look like they should be gracing the covers of magazines, they are laid-back, good-natured and so in love.

Amber+Andy - Enjoy your little preview! Can’t wait to see you both again in just a few months!

Jordanne + Ryan >>> engaged April 4, 2012 4 Comments

Engagement sessions are fun. They are one of my favorite types of sessions! And this session…well, let’s just say I was in happy photographer heaven.
Jordanne and Ryan are a soon-to-be husband+wife photography team. They are getting married this August. They are self-described nerds (I say they are just plain awesome) and quick to laugh. They encompass all that I love about my job.
Their engagement session took place on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City.  Not only is this one of the prettiest places in our great state but it’s also the location of their wedding this summer! Excited? Yes I am.
Also, this session includes alpacas.  How cool is that?

Sarah+Todd >>> wedding preview March 29, 2012 5 Comments

The first wedding of the season and what a way to begin! Sarah and Todd reside in Chicago and planned their nuptials in my new favorite town of Three Oaks, MI (seriously…looking for a fun destination this summer? Eclectic shops, theaters and an honest-to-goodness whiskey distillery…all a few minutes from Lake Michigan. It’s fantastic). They were married in Vickers Theatre, ate and partied the night away at the Acorn Theater. Dramatic right?

I truly can’t tell you how in awe I was with Jamie of Heyday Event Lab. This little mastermind orchestrated one of the most clever and cool receptions I’ve been a part of.  Old theater, old movie flickering on the stage, cool decor galore…I could go on and on. She was also responsible for the floral, coordinating and everything else behind the scenes that made this day a flawless one.  Delish desserts were done by baker-extraordinaire Jason Kakabaker of The Cakabakery.

Highlights of the day were too numerous to mention. I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story of Sarah+Todd’s day. I will say I was thrilled to be a part of their wedding day. I adore these two and wish them all the happiness in the world.

Erin France was on hand for makeup. You remember her work on a little shoot I worked on last winter.

The Marina Grand, where Sarah, Todd and their wedding party got ready was one of the most stylish hotels I’ve seen in a long while. The lobby is a designers dream.

This pink tree below…a stately Magnolia tree…was in the yard of the little house we in Wedding Town (our nicknamed wedding compound we stayed in that weekend) rented. I knew these two absolutely had to have pictures beneath it’s dreamy little branches.

Three Oaks is not a very big town. I love that Sarah+Todd walked from the ceremony right to the reception and cocktail hour at The Acorn Theater.
