4 years? Really?

I took Eli’s pictures when he was born.  Premature, tiny, adorable.  Almost 4 years later, back in front of my camera, he smiled, showed me where his teeth used to be, and is still completely adorable.

I am honored that I have had the opportunity to document each milestone of his life.  It is an enormous compliment and makes me treasure my job even more.

I know that his mom Lisa has been dying a little each day that went by since their session, patiently waiting for their blog post ;).  This has been one of my busiest seasons ever and if there were a cloning machine nearby I would clone 5 more of me.   I hope the wait was worth it!  dsc_9058-copy

Jessica + Jim : : Preview Gallery July 1, 2009 8 Comments

Friday, June 26, 2009

Jessica and Jim are not the traditional bride and groom. In fact, they were actually married two months ago in a lovely ceremony at Jessica’s parents home.  But last Friday was the party…an amazing and modern reception held at Eve in The B.O.B. for their friends and family.

When I met with Jessica last year, she said she wanted some rockin’ pictures of her and Jim and coverage for their reception.  Done and done! No wedding party, no group shots…just time spent with this fun and gorgeous couple.  Darrin was along for the fun and was there not only  shooting and helping with lighting, but offering a hand on the train bridge while my fear of heights and falling kicked into high gear.  No drama here!

Enough with the words…onto the pictures!

I’m not gonna lie…I was a nervous wreck on this bridge. So was Jessica.  It was a bonding experience.

Jessica + Jim : : Married/Rock the Frock June 26, 2009 1 Comment

comp130This stunning couple was actually married this spring, at the home of Jessica’s parents.  But tonight was the party, and before the posh reception at Eve, we battled the heat and humidity to rock out a very fabulous session.  A big thank you to Darrin who was along with me to shoot and throw out some sweet light.

Look for the rest of the post next week!

First of all…thank you thank you thank you to all who submitted all of the creative answers helping me rename the ‘Trash the Dress’ session.  I had a hard time choosing, but the one I keep coming back to and loving is ‘Rock the Frock’ from Curtis Farmer.  Thank you Curtis…you are the fabulous winner of the contest!  Drop me an email to claim your prize (amy@acarrollphotography.com)

I should mention a few of my other favorites in contention as well:

After Glow - Daisy

Flaunt the Frock - Alex

Encore Session - Sondra’s Ink

So thank you again everyone!

Now onto the session at hand…

So as I’ve mentioned before, I simply adore this couple.  Last week I shot their fabulous Rock the Frock session, in the rain, and couldn’t have had a better time.  I also want to give them another round of congratulations as this happy couple is expecting their first baby later this year!!  And three months into her pregnancy, this hot mama-to-be fit into her gown just as well as last fall.  I can’t even imagine how beautiful their little baby is going to me (and am eagerly anticipating more shoots!).

Behind the Scenes:

Ok so I just have to say, this was a shoot I have been looking forward to for a long time!  Fabulous gowns, hair and makeup, beautiful spring weather…it all made for an amazing shoot at September’s Bride!

Julie Strating and Allison were on hand doing lending the hot makeup looks, JamieLea was on it for the couture hairstyles, and Dee of Element of Elegance brought in the florals.

I have to say, our entourage made quite the scene in downtown Holland Friday evening.  With three gorgeous models dressed up in wedding gowns walking around, we had quite the audience!

Thanks again to everyone and to our fabulous models!  Look for another post soon of the beautiful Tami, owner of September’s Bride in Holland.
