It’s not often I do a senior session in the winter. But that’s just what I did last week when I met with Carl, a senior and star quarterback at Manistee High School, for his senior pictures.

Carl and his family are no strangers to my camera. I first met this sweet family four years ago when I shot Nichole and Joe’s wedding (sadly no link backs to this wedding…it was pre-blog, but she was just recently a bridesmaid in Teri+Adam’s wedding), then Jordanne’s senior pictures and now Carl..the youngest of the bunch. The last time I saw him, he was 14!  Now 4 years later and getting ready to graduate high school this year, I learned about his love of football, talked about college and tried to stay warm in the late December weather.  His mom, all the while, tucked away at Wealthy Street Bakery enjoying a latte during the shoot.  Parents of seniors take note - your senior will be his or her more natural self without you standing over them forcing a smile.  Nancy, Carl’s mom, knew this and happily removed herself from getting awkward smiles.  Jaskiw family - I heart you!

This has been my year to work with seniors who’s siblings I’ve shot in past years and seniors who are all musical…quite a trend and one I’m loving!

This is Tom.  Tom whom I’ve known for about 5 years now and it’s still hard to believe he’s old enough to be entering into his last year of high school.  Two years ago I shot his older brother Ryan’s senior session and now it’s his turn to be in front of my camera!

This West Ottawa senior plays the bass, smiles when he talks about his girlfriend, and into design.  A great person and a fun session!

Josh is a senior at Holt High School in Lansing. This senior has good style, a killer personality and a great family.  His family is so amazing that we doubled his senior session with a family session.  When Josh came walking into the studio with his two brothers, I thought they looked like they should be in a band together.  Guess what? Josh and his older brother Justin are in a band together!  And Jalen, the senior I featured in yesterday’s senior post…also in a band. I’m kinda lovin’ this trend.

Jalen is the type of person I wished I had been in high school…one who marches to the beat of his own drum (or guitar in this case), has great hair and not afraid to show his personality.  His session was great from start to finish.  And just like his brother, who’s senior pictures I took over three years ago (!! time flies!), it was hard to take a bad picture of this one.

Alyssa is beautiful inside and out!

This adorable senior attends Northview High School, plays soccer, run cross country and is all-around fabulous.  For her session, we walked the pretty streets of downtown Holland and enjoyed some time at the beach.  Her outfits were well-planned and I think she and I could be great shopping buddies…I loved her cute clothes!
