When Ashley first contacted me, asking for a session with her and her husband, I was beyond delighted!  Ashley is a talented photographer and if you have never had the delight of reading her blog, do so immediately.  Especially her Wednesday Randoms.  Her photography combined with her writing never cease to leave me with an instant emotion…happiness, laughter and even tears.  Her heart for animals and her husband are a constant source of inspiration.

Last week I drove up to Fremont to photograph these two doing the things that they love to do together.  We walked through the woods, played in fields, caught frogs and stalked birds.  Ok…the bird stalking was for me. But it was one of those sessions that left me so delighted I am a photographer.  Learning about the lives of others, driving through the country and enjoying a summer hike…all things that refreshed my spirit.

Ashley and Brian have been married for nearly three years.  They are without pretense and full of love for each other that is apparent to all that know them.  High school sweethearts and each other’s best friend.   A beautiful love story.  This session was for them. To capture that love.  No special day, no special anniversary.  Just because.

I love photographing engagement sessions. I love seeing a couple excited about their upcoming wedding.  The way they look at each other, excited for their future spent together.  Diana and Tony were no exception and I loved getting to know these two as we walked around downtown Grand Rapids.  This stunningly adorable couple is getting married this winter, and while I won’t be photographing their wedding (Diana purchased a session with me from last winter’s Design 1 Fashion Show) I know they are going to have an amazing day. I wish these two all the best!

Amy lives in Detroit, Dan in Cincinnati.  Living apart definitely has its challenges but when they are together, it is oh so sweet

They met while they were students at Michigan State and that was where we wondered, around the campus, for their engagement session.   With the flowers and trees in full bloom, we enjoyed the overcast skies and warm spring temperatures.  I cannot wait to see these two again for their wedding this fall!

Jennifer and Patrick have been together nearly 8 years and getting married in just over a month! I met these two at North Beach in Chicago to start their session and we headed to some of my favorite areas of the city.

I love how Patrick makes Jennifer laugh…the session was filled with laughter, some adventure (Patrick at one point during the session asked if they could climb up a building…um yes!), and lots of love.

I am so glad I met these two and can’t wait to see them again in May!  2010 is going to be amazing!

Miya is the girl who can talk to anyone, Gil more reserved and quiet.  But together, Miya makes Gil smile and Gil makes Miya absolutely laugh out loud.  Their session was filled with laughter as we walked around Chicago enjoying the crisp March air.  With Gil living in California, and Miya residing in Chicago, I think these two enjoyed a few hours to cuddle up and be together before parting ways yet again.

I absolutely can’t wait to work with these two again for their wedding this November.  Miya and Gil - enjoy your preview!

Our session started here at Molly’s Cupcakes!  We all indulged in a litle cupcake goodness…if you are in the Chicago area and need a sweet treat, I highly recommend the vanilla cupcake with brown butter frosting…amazing!
