The first wedding of the season.  There is always a mix of eager anticipation and a little nervous energy this time a year. And as I packed up all of my gear, double checked that I had all that I needed and hit the road, I mentally checked everything off in my head. About 25 times.

I arrived in Port Sheldon early last Saturday morning and was greeted by a roomful of girls laughing, chatting, and enjoying the last little bit of time before heading to the church.  Shelby sitting patiently waiting for her sister and maid-of-honor to do her hair.

The entire day, while cold and at times a little snowy, was full of laughter and love.  Brett literally beaming at Shelby and the two of them braving the cold in between the ceremony and reception for pictures.  I think brides have super hero powers on their wedding day.  I have photographed brides braving subzero temps in their wedding dress and Jimmy Choo’s, totally working it for the camera.  Shelby was no exception and although chilly, never complained once.

Another highlight of the day…working with My Life in a Movie videographer team Justin and Lindsay.  Not only is Lindsay a longtime friend of mine, I also shot their wedding nearly a year ago!  Justin, being super amazing, shot part of the wedding in 3D, seriously leading the trend here in Michigan. I cannot wait to see footage from Shelby and Brett’s wedding.  I foresee a movie night with this fabulous duo complete with awesome 3D glasses.

Shelby and Brett - you two were absolutely wonderful to work with. I adore you both and your families and hope your time in Hawaii was perfect.  Congratulations again you two!

Brett’s grandfather was his best man. They are so close and to watch the relationship these two have was pretty amazing.
