Julia + Alex : : Wedding Preview! October 22, 2009

Friday, October 16, 2009
Grand Rapids, MI
Ceremony : : Calvin Seminary Chapel
Reception : : Eve at The B.O.B.
Julia’s dad gave the welcome toast at the reception the evening of Julia and Alex’s wedding. He told the story of their first date. Alex came to pick Julia up to take her to the movies. Hours later, Julia’s father looked outside the window and saw Alex’s car still sitting there. They were having such a wonderful conversation with each other that they missed the movie entirely. I loved hearing this story…it was one of many that made me realize how perfect and perfectly in love Julia and Alex are.
This couple is not only completely in love and adorable, but environmentally conscious as well. Julia’s dress was made by her and her mom from bamboo fiber. Julia informed me that it could decompose back into the earth (not that she’ll be testing that I’m sure). And instead of hiring a limo or other form of mass transportation for the wedding party from the church to the reception? We took the city bus! Loved loved loved this wedding.
And a big thank you to the talented Kelly Braman who helped me second shoot this perfect day!

So at every table was a different and delish cake. Instead of just serving it after dinner, each table had to pick a representative to ’sell’ the cake they had at their table to the rest of the room. After each cake was made mention of, the guests were encouraged to go to the table of the cake that sounded best to them. Brides and grooms - if you want to encourage mingling at your reception, this was an excellent idea and had all the guests laughing together.

super cool!! what is the story with the balloons??
Love all the fun details!!
