When I spoke to Lyn prior to her wedding, we hadn’t yet met in person.  She assured me the day would be simple and fun and to make sure I enjoyed myself.  She was laid-back, happy, and looking forward to marrying her best Pal…as they called each other.

I showed up on Saturday afternoon in Dexter, MI, at a private farm.  I went under the sprawling white tent set up for the reception and immediately realized that Lyn was a very modest bride…the adjectives simple and fun, as she described her wedding prior that week, was replaced by beautiful, sweet and organic.  All of the touches, the fresh fruits and vegetables displayed on the tables, the barn set up with twinkling lights and beautiful flowers, the ceremony set up to overlook the farm…it was all absolutely perfect.

I couldn’t have enjoyed working with this couple more, and I wish them all the best wishes for a happy life together.  Even after their honeymoon in Puerto Rico had to be cancelled after a tropical storm hit, they just packed up the car, hit the road and enjoyed traveling across the country together.  I could learn a lot from their laid-back, loving-life attitude.

When the girls arrived to the farm before the ceremony the reality that their sister and friend Lyn was getting married that day.  Emotions started to run strong. It was beautiful.

Why an action figure in the brides bouquet on the right?  When Lyn’s twin sister got married in Rome a few years ago, Lyn’s son gave her his small blue action figure when they realized they had nothing for a ’something blue’.  The tradition continued for Lyn and Vinny’s day.

Does the girl pinning the bouquet below look familiar?  It’s none other than my dear friend and studio partner Jen!  Vinny is her brother-in-law and was ‘off duty’ for the day!

Totally fantastical cake.  I do believe this may be one of my favorites from this season.  Fresh berries make me happy.
