Bee Green : : Help the Honeybees June 2, 2009

As I was happily enjoying my snack of passion fruit Haagen-Dazs the other day, I started reading the carton and noticed a little ‘help the honeybees‘ logo on the back. I visited the site and learned more than I ever had about a former lawn enemy of mine, the honeybee.
These little insects are in fast decline, due to environmental stress and a declining food population, but there are ways we can help, even as simply as planting our own little flower garden. I did just that, even with my lack of a green thumb!
We can all do our part to help out our environment. Everyday it becomes clearer to all of us that we need to change our habits to make our world better. And as a little bit of extra encouragement, if you feel so inclined to plant a little flower or fruit garden, show me your efforts! There just might be a prize for your green efforts! I plan on adding ‘green’ articles to my blog more often to try to raise awareness about environmental issues we can all help to combat. So check back often
Look! Sprouts! These are Sweet Peas. I can’t wait to plant these little guys into my landscaping.

My kids and I planted a little flower garden and it’s coming up nicely. My son Blake (6) is quite proud that our Iris’ are open and we await Sydney’s (8) marigolds to sprout. We’re also waiting for our ornamental grass and herbs, and some other bulbs I forget what they are.
Good for everyone for doing their part!

why are sprouts so cute? I love running to all my flower beds, garden and pots to find what has sprouted. I’m such a dork!
I will look forward to your ‘green posts’
Love the going green aspect!!! I have two brides next summer that are doing a total green weddings!
